Paresh, a famous lawyer incessantly doubts his newly married wife Gouri in every little aspects of her life. Initially Gouri does not understand the situation, but slowly the element mistrust grows intolerable and she confides her mistress to a young monk Paramananda in the hope of freedom. But Paramananda falls in love with her and desires her as his beloved. He writes her a letter and proposes her to elope with him and start a new life. Incidentally Paresh discovers the letter is severely shocked. The trauma and agony becomes too heavy for his weak heart, and a massive heart attack ends his life. Gouri is also to elope on the same evening and Paramananda waits for her. Gouri is in dilemma, her loyalty and dutifulness restrains her to leave. Perplexed and confused, she takes poison and commits suicide.
